OUR VALUES
"THE BEAUTY OF A GARMENT SHOULD BE MATCHED BY THE BEAUTY OF HOW IT WAS MADE"
SHIRLEY — FOUNDER
At Moss Le Petit, we believe it’s the small, thoughtful decisions—about fibres, people, and process—that shape a better way forward. That’s why every MOSS knit is crafted in Peru, creating a "seed-to-garment" journey that respects the earth, the makers, and your little ones.
Here is how we're doing things differently —
Our story begins with nature’s three "super-fibres": Peruvian Pima Cotton, Tangüis Cotton, and Alpaca.
• Pima Cotton: Often called the silk of South America, our Pima is harvested by hand rather than by industrial machines. This preserves the extra-long fibres, creating a yarn that is silky-smooth, resists pilling, and gets softer with every wash.
• Tangüis Cotton: Truly a "white gold" found only in Peru, Tangüis is naturally eco-friendly. It requires less water to grow than standard cotton and is prized for its strength and brilliant whiteness, allowing us to create beautiful colours without harsh processing.
• Alpaca: For cosy layers, we turn to Alpaca—a fibre that is warmer than sheep’s wool yet incredibly light. It is naturally lanolin-free, making it an ideal choice for children with sensitive skin or "itchy wool" allergies.

We know that "natural" isn’t enough when it comes to your child’s comfort and safety. To give you total peace of mind, we hold ourselves to the highest global benchmarks:
• GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard): This is the "gold standard" for organics. It ensures that, from farm to factory, no harmful pesticides or chemicals are used, and the people making our clothes are treated with fairness and respect.
• OEKO-TEX® Standard 100: Our raw materials are tested for over 1,000 harmful substances, including toxic dyes, pesticides, and heavy metals—safe for your child’s skin, with no hidden nasties.

Because our entire production process—from harvesting raw materials to the final stitch—happens within Peru, our "garment miles" are significantly lower than traditional manufacturing. This vertical integration doesn’t just reduce our carbon footprint; it gives us total transparency. We know exactly where our clothes come from.
By manufacturing in Peru, we’re working with traditional knitting collectives and master textile experts. It’s a way of keeping ancient textile traditions alive while ensuring fair wages and steady work for local artisans, many of whom are women supporting their families.

Our packaging is kept minimal and practical, with the same care given to materials and production. We use POLLAST!C™ mailers made from recovered ocean-bound plastic, helping to reduce waste before it reaches waterways. Printed materials are produced in Melbourne using FSC-certified paper, soy-based inks, and renewable energy.
Everything is considered with its end of life in mind—designed to be reused, recycled, or returned responsibly to the environment. True sustainability means buying less and buying better.
